Unfortunately, no. Probably for the best, since the race I really wanted to see was the 10,000 meters and they ran that one in a driving rainstorm. Probably not the best night for a fan in the stands.
In retrospect, of course, I wish I had seen the world record in the decathlon. That would have been pretty cool.
That's what I was thinking today. One of my home visiting colleagues and friends in Seattle, Nancy Gagliano always told me her dad was a track coach... a pretty good one I guess. Frank Gagliano, but he goes by Gags. He is in Corvallis coaching for the Olympic tryouts. My friend is in New Jersey taking care of her ailing Mom so he can be there. She never told me quite how famous he was :)
