New Ink Squared...

Something new with the latest bit of writing: I've got an article in the latest (Summer) issue of Adventures Northwest Magazine, and Jen (the wife) also has some of her artwork in the same issue! My article is titled "Can a Poor Triathlete Compete?" and Jen has got the back splash page all to herself with a mash-up of a number of different paintings she did with the Ski to Sea race as inspiration - she did one painting for each leg of the race, seven in all.

Since I know that you all can afford a copy of Adventures NW, even you poor triathletes, as it's free, get out there and grab one and check out the new stuff...and the wife's new stuff.

The latest ink...

Here it is! The newest addition to the Lommers article family. This time we're discussing the famous Ski to Sea multi-sport relay race that starts at Mt. Baker and ends in Bellingham Bay in Fairhaven. In between those two points, you get Cross Country skiing, Downhill Skiing, Running, Road Biking, Canoeing (is that how you spell it?), Mountain Biking and, finally, Kayaking. It covers 85 miles...what the -?!?! Thanks a lot, Ski to Sea Race Committee. Right after I write an article about the race and title it "Eighty-Two Miles and Change," they adjust the course from 82.5 miles to 85 miles! Holy moly guacamole. Anyhoo, grab the new issue of Adventures NW Magazine and check out my article. And if you're not on a Ski to Sea team yet, what are you waiting for?

The newest bit of writing...

The latest article has hit the newsstands between the covers of the Winter issue of Adventures NW Magazine. I almost made the top billing this time. That's the one right there, "NW Night Running", second from the top. What's up top? "Cascades. A Pilot's View". Booooorrrring. Actually, I'm sure it's a very nice article...if you read it, let me know.

Anyhoo, the night running article is about, well, running at night. The boom in the 24-hour relay and the fact that anyone that runs after 4:30 this time of year is, in fact, running in the dark.

When taking some great pictures for the article (that were not chosen as worthy by the editors), at Northern State Park in Sedro Woolley, Jen and I bothered a couple of kids steaming up the windows of their Toyota. They clearly thought no one in their right mind would go to a park that has no lighting in the middle of the night. Well, they thought that right up until I hit them with the headlights. Hello!
