Northwest Running and Triathlon Calendar - October 2013 - Halloween Races and the Beaver Fever!

For the first time ever, the late Fall Beaver Fever Duathlon will now have a Triathlon as well!

Wowza. That's pretty late for a tri. I can't think of any other triathlons in the Willamette Valley (or in the NW?) that take place that late in the year. Can you? The swim will take place in the Philomath City Pool and there will be both a road bike division and a mountain bike division (although this year, everybody will ride on the roads) and the run leg will be on a XC course.

This should be a fun one...but it's almost sold out, so get on it now!

The Center of the Nation Marathon Series - Five Marathons in Five Days! All of them in the lightly populated and race-light center of our great nation. And to save time and money, three of them are within 200 miles - just fly into Rapid City, South Dakota and run three marathons in three days while never having to change hotels!

If you didn't already know, this kind of thing is put together for runners that want to run a marathon in every state in the US. Or even crazier, every state in the US in one calendar year.

Well, you shouldn't have a problem finding a Fourth of July race this year - there are 36 of them - and I don't think you'll have to travel far for that half marathon either - there are 12 of them - so strap on the running shoes and go!

Of course, if you're really adventurous, the most absolutely insane thing to do over the Independence Day weekend would be to sign up for all the FIRECRACKER QUADZILLA!!!

Yes, you can sign up for four marathons in four days! Or if you're some kind of Nancy-boy, you can sign up for four half marathons in four days!

One of the Big Boys is on the schedule this week - the Eugene Marathon. That's right, Eugene, home of Pre, Nike and Ducks of all kinds. But personally, it's the Krusteaz Pancake that gets me going. A year's supply of pancakes if you beat him in the 5k! Don't think it's easy...he's not slow. Here's a video of him in action last year - he really moves!
