Good article here by Joseph Rose at the Oregonian. A lot of people have been hit, and yesterday, killed, by cars while riding bikes in Portland lately. And frankly, everywhere. It's always going to be a bit of a challenge for bikers and drivers to share the road - I don't know if that will ever change. But one thing we can change is the practice of wearing a helmet. It's pretty simple: wear one. Every time.
I don't know about where you live, but Corvallis only makes kids wear helmets - adults do not have to wear a helmet. Dumb. I say make it a law that everyone on a bike has to wear a helmet, stop the arguments, save some lives. But that doesn't seem to be the trend these days. So don't be an idiot - wear your helmet.
Oh, and if you want to go make fun of the goober from Rose's article with the "No Helmet Manifesto," please do so. His name is Dave Feucht and his baseless generalizations and hopeless rationalizations would be funny except that they could lead people to kill themselves on a bike.
